Ive been shooting clays a lot more to get used to my mossy pump... some days I hit 15 out of 25... but the next I hit 5 out of 25...

When I hit them my eye just locks on the clay and I pull the trigger. ..

When I miss I miss them I kind of know ive missed before ive even pulled the trigger..

Anyone know why im doing this?

Sounds to me like you have a good mount and the gun suits you. When you hit them you are just concentrating on the bird and the rest is instinctive - it all happens automatically.

When you miss, you are trying too hard, trying to mount properly or sight exactly and thinking about things other than the target.

I suggest you simply try mounting and swinging without a target and then go back to the trap and just watch the clay - let the rest take care of itself - dont think about anything other than the moment of pulling the trigger. If that doesnt work then its 20,000 carts a year and practice!

Good luck.

Sounds like you lost focus, I'm afraid you just need to keep practicing until the gun is just an extension of your arm. One day it will just click, and when that happens you will find that you were in a relaxed confident state of mind. Try not to over think it or try too hard. 1. Relax. 2. Slow down, you have more time than you think. 3 Enjoy.

Single trap in a feild ? Suggest a trip to a local clay ground with a competent instructor, its going to take alot of clays on your own with a single trap to get anywhere, if you can hit it once there is no reason you can't do it 100 times (if only it was that easy)
