Load development process.........

Recommended Posts

Kent, I appreciate the reply but it's not a factory rifle; it's away having a 1in10 put on it. I think for now I've got it sussed for now though, I can't do much until I get the rifle back but I'm in the process of making batches of 5 up of various charge weights (at book length) so I may be able to find one that groups well - then experiment from there.

Just a thought which I am sure you have thought of already.

If your rifle is away having a new barrel put on it you might like to recheck the OAL when you get the rifle back rather than loading to your original OAL!

I will be doing f.b. but I've never had the rifle - I bought it over the phone and asked the RFD to post it straight off for me.

What I'm loading at the moment is to book length; 2.350" (1.987" to ogive). Which'll run the new barrel in, fire form the brass and I can zero the scope roughly - the varied powder weights, who knows - maybe I'll hit the nail on the head.

Ok, so its not been cut for a specific bullet requested by you? if that's the case start at std OA length BUT before you shoot them just run the check to make sure its not been cut short- you can always tweek them deeper if it has. I fail to understand how you have sized the brass though., if its tight in the chamber or has been done for a turned neck (the latter unlikely) you going to be pulling all those rounds. Might be better to leave things as they are and hold that enthusiasm
