ThePestControllers
for ages i have been decoying pigeons and crows with differing amounts success depending on the time of year and i usually set the target species up as the main decoy pattern and the secondary species to one side but i learnt recently while crow decoying instead of putting the pigeon decoys to one side of the crow decoys i just put the pigeon decoys spread amongst the crows in no particular order and it works really good because the crows are not bothered about the pigeons and the pigeons seem to get confidence from the crows. its strange because all the literature you read says you need to give pigeons a open space to land in hence the half circle decoy pattern. but if you are mainly after crows and would like to get some pigeons closer in to shoot more comfortably then give this a go you wont be disappointed. the crow shooting on a pig farm video i put up used this technique with great success. ThePestControllers
i must admit i only did it because i watched a large flock of crows on one of my farms and saw pigeons just landing in amongst the crows there wasn't loads of pigeons going in but the ones that did were confident. you could tell because they just flew straight in instead of flying round and round. so i thought why not try it and hey presto it worked a treat. now i am not saying it attracts loads of pigeons in but those that do come in are confident. and its a berty bonus because i am only set up for crows in this case anyway
