searley
In most cases, i find from the center of the road, over the verge, then hedge.. You are already 50 foot away, or not far from it... It certainly not and offence to be within 50ft with a firearm, so i just ensure any shots are taken when there are no cars about... But to be hinest in most cases if using an air rifle or moderated 22 most car drivers would be totally unaware that you have fired a shot.. I did have someone call the police once, when i was close to thier boundary fence, aiming into the land that i had permission on, trying to state i scared her.. I was within 50ft of a bridleway, which cars can go down to get to the horse fields, she tried hard to have me stopped from shooting the land, but was in the end told by the police that i had just as much right to be there as she does on her land, she was also told that if she entered the land i was on to try and stop me shooting she could be charged with aggrevated trespass.. I now when shooting land that is not police approved, call the control room before shooting, it only takes a few minutes and they have not turned up since.. Although they did call my mobile one night to see if i was in a specific location as they had a report, and if i was they neednt turn out
malantone
I was reported to the police by a cyclist who was riding through our wood on a public footpath, (we used the footpath as a gunline and were waiting for birds coming over, we often do this and if any walkers come along we all break the guns and stop the beaters). this guy demanded we were in the wrong, the police sergeant who visited my house asked what I was doing in the woods, I answered that I, as part of a syndicate was shooting pheasant, his reply was ;- "that's a daft place to shoot pheasants isn't it," I asked him how much he knew about gun and shooting law as most if not all pheasant are reared and flushed out of woodland to pass over the guns, I added that the cyclist was riding his bike on a footpath not a bridleway and this was forbidden by our landlord. with this he left and I heard no more. Mentalmac
Firing an air weapon pellet beyond your boundary was made a specific offence by section 34 of the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006. Boom - now that's what I call a good bit of retained knowledge :-)
