As it is the 1st i thought i would ask for clarification,

There are certain counties that you cannot shoot in on a sunday and i don't shoot game/wildfowl on sunday, but reading the list it only states "pembroke" not pembrokeshire or dyfed(another name that we are known as),am i right in thinking i could shoot in pembroke dock, milford haven, tenby, haverfordwest which are all towns in pembrokeshire, just not in pembroke.Or should i still not shoot on a sunday.

Your thoughts please gentlemen/ladies :hmm:

No game may be killed or taken in any county on Sunday or Christmas Day. Game for the purposes of this section means pheasant, partridge, red grouse, black grouse and hare.

Orders prohibiting the shooting of wildfowl on Sundays made under sections 2 and 13 of the Protection of Birds Act 1954 still in existence are in the following counties (or parts of counties in existence before the 1974 local authority re-organisation): Anglesey, Brecknock, Caernarvon, Carmarthen, Cardigan, Cornwall, Denbigh, Devon, Doncaster, Glamorgan, Great Yarmouth County Borough, Isle of Ely, Leeds County Borough, Merioneth, Norfolk, Pembroke, Somerset, North and West Ridings of Yorkshire.

Wales no longer has counties but unitary authorities so i think the county of "pembroke" means the 'pembrokeshire' unitary area. Check with BASC before going out shooting tho !

That's the confusing part,it states"parts of counties".

I don't shoot on sunday because i have always believed i could not shoot on sunday in pembrokeshire, but when you read it ,it becomes a bit confusing(i only have a little brain)

You are right,a call to BASC will be the answer.

http://www.data-wales.co.uk/oldmap.htm Helps as this is the pre 1974 county names and "pembroke" is what we now know as "pembrokeshire" roughly yopu can see how some counties got split (look at powys) so if it was part of the old pre 74 county its still ilegal to shoot on a sunday despite it now being in a different county (i think)

Sunday is for Chapel, not for drinking or shooting!

Thanks for that, i always thought we were known as pembrokeshire pre 1974,then they changed it to dyfed, which everyone hated and it is now known as pembrokeshire again.

Makes perfect sense, and no shooting wildfowl or game on a sunday in pembrokeshire :sad1:

Cheers HDAV :good:
