Land ownership

The problems with the likes of farming areas is that the land is registered in the old Sasines system which was not map based also the original owner’s name who bought the land could be over several centuries old as farms are usually from father to son and they do not bother re registering it upon the death of the father as this costs money that could be put to better use.

This causes problems for the register as land parcels that were bought centuries ago my not follow the current shape of the fields in question.

Your best bet is to get hold of some modern mapping and get you farmer to mark on his boundaries from that look for adjacent properties farms houses etc and then chap doors and ask if they know who owns the land that bounds your permission.
