Archie-fox
Afternoon all Will be looking at a 243 soon for foxing and the odd deer...I like the look of the new sako A7 what's the opinion on this rifle? Have any of you got/tried one? Thanks Rich.
Rem223
I have a Sako A7 stainless in .308 it is in my view a hybrid Sako 75 with Tikka features. The bolt shroud and magazine are both polymer. The bolt release is steel and it has the same push to release magazine as the 85. The recoil lug is a bit duff, but no worse than the Tikka. I prefer the stock to the Tikka and I think the Weaver style bases are excellent as it means you aren't forced to use the Optilocks. Nothing wrong with Optilocks apart from the price. Is it worth the extra over a Tikka? Well I doubt it shoots any better, but you do get essentially a Sako 75 for a lot less money than an 85 if you are happy with a synthetic stock then it probably is, but you can only get a synthetic stock which may be a drawback to some. Archie-fox
I had a look at one today, I have a custom tikka t3 and it's a awesome foxing gun but will have to gets 243 if I want to take deer from my land..I will probably end up with another t3 in 243 flavour... Really fancy a Sako tho, got a budget of £12/1300 for the bare rifle and not too keen on second hand...
grasshopper
I picked 1 up in my local Gunshop but didn't like the feel of it so ordered a Sako 85 Hunter...prefer the wooden stocks. 85 synthetic stocks have a nice feel to them, whereas this felt too plastic. Oh yeah £1265 for the Hunter
