Wildfowling - west of scotland

Daz,

I asked this question a while back and did not get much response. There are not many areas that I know of on the Clyde coast that would be a wildfowling spot, although there may be some duck to be had near the various rivers & streams.

I see you are from Paisly so your best bet maby to find out about inland decoying (not real wildfowling in some peoples eyes). A few seasons back I was down in the Loch Lomond area (not shooting) and there were a good number of geese on some stubble fields, otherwise you may have to travel down to the Wigton and the Solway Firth areas or over to the east coast Dunbar or the Tay areas.

Unfortunatly for a lot of people who wildfowl on the coast, you may have to travel a good distance to get what you want otherwise a short break away to the various shooting areas.

I am spoilt for choice where I live, I can basically just fall out of bed and down onto the shore where geese & duck are around.

Good luck.

Hello RS,

I asked the same as BBL a while ago too. It seems the Clyde is a funny place, there are it seems very little areas of shore wildfowling of open knowledge. As the post above states. There are areas on sandbars south of you that at certain times hold large numbers later in the season. It's not worth your time or your certificate having ago, in my opinion. There are a few lads I know that take most of their Geese from stubble and freshwater on inland fields in Ayrshire. What's the mudflats like between you and the Port? The Solway is probably ur closest. Atb Mcleod.
