DirtyDeeds
I have read this article, but what do you do if the stock is oil fininshed? The gun furniture is very dark as if it has had many years of oiling; the grain is indestinguishable in some places where it is almost black. I'd just like to try and lighten it up a bit, bring out the grain a bit more, and put on a slightly glossier sheen. Any ideas?
Dunkield
Try, in a very small area as a test piece, using some fine wire wool and a drop of white spirit, it may <just> bring it back to its former glory.
DirtyDeeds
Ended up using Nitromors and finishing off with white spirt. Just doing the Tru Oil thing now. Cheers.
