It seems to me that 'Blairs Britain' bought in so much legislation when he was in power that he'd have us all walking around in bubble wrap! Now parents are ordering kevlar school blazers from a company that makes slash proof hoodies. I'm sorry but the problem to me seems to be lack of policing on our streets, to much red tape when caught, too light sentences when finally found guilty, and too many law breakers hiding behind 'human rights'! And to this the single parent that gets looked after from my taxes for the rest of their life, and has no pride in wanting to work for a living (whats the point - I can get more on the dole), and passing this culture onto their offspring....... We've made our beds, ladies and gentlemen. now we have to sleep in them!

There was a bakers on the corner of my road, E Mays & sons. For tuppence you could go and get a bag of broken biscuits; they really were broken and they were the best tasting biscuits I've ever had! Why should a bag of mixed up, broken bourbon creams, custard creams, choccy digestives, etc, taste better than the 'prim and proper packets' we have now? NO idea whatsoever!

Nowdays, if little Johny's good we can give him sweeties, but if he's bad we must sit him down like a little gerbil and say "baaaad Johnny". Well, that certainly worked didn't it; now kids have got a definate division between right and wrong, and know the consequences thereof; nothing! Personally, where did it all go wrong? Amongst my music I used to like disco, and surprisingly, rock (all sorts, really). I listen to the heavy thrash metal now, and the rapping bass garage stuff, and understand what my parents went through! I built my kids a go-kart with a plank of wood and old pram wheels, a snow sleigh out of a wooden pallet (the metal tie down strips really made that thing go!). I wonder if they'll look back and say "them were the good ol' days"?

I believe it's your sense of parenting. As has been said somewhere else, leaving your children in familiar surroundings with neighbourhood watch schemes, etc, would be bad enough. So to do it on holiday....? Do we really need laws for good parenting? We live in the real world where peado's, burglers, etc. live. Do we need to be told to keep an eye on our children, or leave them with someone trusted or in authority? After Jamie Bulger, a lot of those wrist straps were sold; experience is a harsh teacher, I've heard it said. But I've had four children, the eldest is nearly 21 and has his own family, my youngest is just 6, with two other daughters in between. Whenever I've been shopping they've always held onto my hand, or I've carried them or sat them on my shoulders. If they wanted to run ahead, I always set a distance/boundry, one that I could easily get to (10yds?) and never let them out of my sight. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I don't want to end up in the situation of either of the above parents..... and do what I can to prevent it.

Even one fixed to a brick wall could conceivably be pulled off - mine would pull quite a bit of the wall with it, but they'd make a hell of a mess to the cabinet as well so not worth it in the end. I have heard of cabinets being laid on the floor (rather than stood up as usual) and coach bolted to the joists - the back of the cabinet may require additional holes drilled to line up with the joists. But at the end of the day if it's secure enough that you and your dad can't pull it off, and it's out of site of the casual observer, I can't see a problem. Maybe cut out the bottom of a wardrobe and bolt it to the joists? Have you consulted your FEO? It's hard sitting on the end of a keyboard trying to visualise your home. Good luck.

It's not the gell I have troubles with. Anyway, like some others I use the old soap and brush method, but after all the cuts I used to get, a friend at work suggested swapping the broken glass for a razor!

Did the e-mail come addressed to you personally? PayPal always address to the customer and not "Dear PayPal customer" or "Dear PayPal member". The other thing I do is to log onto PayPal from my own link in my favourites; never follow a link in an e-mail.

I use gantry cranes at work. I'm a train engineer and often the roof sections have to be lifted off to allow access to other equipment which also has to be hoisted out. My company is moving to a new depot in October - I have just finished a familiarisation course for the new cranes I'll be using. The training also includes not just how to operate the crane and make safe lifts, but also covers being a banksman and a slinger, and both of their duties.

Don't like Barclays - urgh (spit/belch/etc)! Mucked up my account no end years back. Been with Nationwide BS ever since (about 18 years now) - no complaints! However (slight derail here), if Barclays merg with the Dutch bank, I will feel sorry for them - this is political correctness gone too far!

I admire you. I started off with a budget for a gun which, by the time I had made the purchase, had doubled. I considered any cheap second hand Lincoln or Lanber or some such. Then I thought for a couple of hundred more I could buy those models new. And then...... For another couple of hundred more (!) I ended up buying a s/h Beretta! It's a choice only you can make, and at the end of the day the gun fit will be an important factor. Good luck.

This is difficult. If I were a seller, I'd try and treat it as a newspaper advert but with the bonus of being able to add pictures. So it would be up to the seller to give the best description he/she can. Where some questions may only be pertinent to the individual buyer (would you consider splitting, etc), some of those answers may be of interest to other prospective buyers. The seller may find themselves answering the same questions - in a forum the buyer can see the answers. I don't know how moderating works, but could the decision be left to the seller as to wether replies are sent via the forums or by e-mail/PM, and the post then blocked or left open as required? Answers on a postcard please!

When I spoke to Olly he said that he wasn't sure of the reason: how did this 'feud' come to light? It's anoying. I've made some good friends there since I've started shooting. I've shot at Olly's 'airfield' site only once and visited 3 Acres but never shot there. I guese it's time to meet Mungler and Co. at Billericay or Stock and make some new friends, but I would like to have done it under different circumstances.
