J Gray
I know its early days for me in terms of posts on here, but I have been shooting for years as many of you have, and im looking for some help/advice. Having recently being 'bought out' of my last permission, I have tried sending many letters to local farmers and landowners as i seem this is the most respectful and less disruptive way to contact them. with no reply at all, "the keeper and his mates do it" or "I've already got someone who pays" being the norm, i wondered if any one on here could help? Having looked through some of the paid and free opportunities, it seems locally to me there's not much more than a couple of places I can pay to shoot, which im more than happy to do, but in the long run we'd all like to shoot for less than £50 a day. I am fully insured with BASC, I have pre-charged air rifles and shotguns, im willing to get stuck in and help out for shooting. I am a responsible person that will, quite simply, work within the boundaries and rules set out by you, in addition to fully respecting the land im shooting on. Not only would this be allowing you crop protection/vermin control at no cost, it would also allow a much loved hobby to be continued! Any help/advice/feedback much appreciated
toontastic
I too have recently sent out over 150 letters to various farms and had as much joy as you. But there are many other routes to getting some shooting try door knocking or getting out beating. There are plenty of shoots in east anglia and some of them are sure to be after a extra beater. I do a bit of beating and manage to get a fair number of invites. Edited October 31, 2013 by toontastic
