Mike737
Tesco's Everyday Value Mushrooms have started coming with the 'root' attached, much like they do in France. I have noticed that the mycelium appear to start growing whilst in the fridge, and wondered whether they could be cultivated to produce more mushrooms free of charge, as it were. But, what to plant them in? All sensible suggestions welcomed, if anyone thinks this could work... Thanks, Mike.

Mike737
Thanks for that holly, they seem to be using wheat impregnated with spore, to produce the oysters. Made me smile that the big sign behind the lady was in English... I'll give it a go, nothing to lose! Mike.

Kes
Leaving the root on just makes the individual mushrooms cost more. Less is more (profit) - buy someone elses.
THE MEK
Seen a programme where they used the waste coffee grindings as a growing medium from a cafe
