fortune
This morning two of the son in laws and one of their friends and I decided to go down to Willow farm near Appledore in Kent and shoot a few clays. There had been quite a hard frost overnight but it was lifted by the time that we arrived. We had been told that they were open from 11 until 2pm so we arrived at about 10.45 to get an early lead in. When we arrived I was slightly surprised by the fact that there were quite a few cars in the park and some were shooting already and overall there seemed to be a fair amount of shooters and cars in the park when we left. We booked in, paid the fee and headed out to knock down some of the 70 clays that were going to be our course. It wasn’t too bad in the sun but it was a bit finger cold in the shade or where it was a bit windy. The clientele seemed to be almost exclusively game /rough shooters which was quite nice because there wasn’t the silliness of barracking at the stands by competitive types and there was a good natured humorous banter between the waiting shooters especially when one of the traps control buttons played up and had to be replaced with an alternative trap which also had a bit of a mind of its own. Still we enjoyed ourselves and I was top in our little group beating the next by one clay≫”YES”. Of course there was no competition and it was all just for fun. This afternoon the wife and I took the spaniel out for a good walk in the afternoon sunshine before the next storm comes through. Got the gun to clean now to round off a pleasant day out in the winter sun. Oh and I think that I will have a glass of port also to make it an even better day. cheers all.
