JDog
I have been out today in what was supposed to be wet and windy weather and had a stupendous day's sport. The pheasants were deliberately driven across the wind on each drive so that they would be caught by the wind and curl over the guns and they were spectacular to say the least. The normal pegs were not used and the shoot captain placed us on each drive. A good observer would notice just how much curl the pheasants were putting on by watching birds go over neighbouring guns. I stood in the middle of the line on the first drive and pheasants heading directly towards me when they were first flushed ended up over the end two guns. The ones I shot at headed for guns at my extreme left. This happened all day and with skillful driving the birds were very acrobatic and challenging. I saw one untouched bird fly more than half a mile. We never saw a drop of rain and at the end of one of the best day's I have had this season we picked 57 pheasants.
