I have just bought this camera after watching all the brilliant diy builds on this forum and YouTube etc. however I would like to test camera and monitor with a car battery and would like to know if the outer bit of the 12v jack plug on the s190 swx camera is negative or positive? Ultimately I want to get a CCTV power pack but I am having problems finding a supplier on eBay or amazon without bad feedback or reviews. Regards mark

as mick has said above, outer sheath is the negative and the RED wire is your +

as for the other lead the outer sheath is the earth - and the yellow is the A/V send

hope this helps,, why a car battery,,seems a bit big to sit on the end of your rig,lol

Thanks gents, that is very logical it should protect the positive in the centre. It was only my old logun lamping light that runs from a 6 v yuasa battery and is the reverse that had cast doubt in my mind. As I said I would like a CCTV 12v power pack but I have been put off the Chinese ones of stories that they either go pop or do not give the advertised milliamp hours. Has anyone out there got a supplier a little closer to home to recommend ? Regards mark
