Actually I have claimed and found them fine. They pretty much handed me over to the underwriter who wrapped everything up fairly swiftly. My issues are more with day to day admin which can make them a pain to deal with. I don't like their auto-renew either which they don't tell you about over the phone. I was away once when a renewals notice came. Because I hadn't responded they helped themselves from my credit card to premium which had nearly doubled for a policy I didn't want anyway and sent my card over the limit. The credit card company refunded the charges but it still went on my credit record. Most companies I've dealt with don't auto-renew from card payments, only direct debits, or if they do they tell you beforehand and give you the option to cancel from the start.

I don't find AF user friendly. I never get the feeling that they're on my side. Just insured my 4X4 with Lancaster and they were very helpful indeed.
