FalconFN
The rape is very patchy at the moment with large areas just comming into flower and other areas, that were set back by the wet weather, just a few inches high. This shorter rape is being hit hard by pigeons and in some places it is nothing but stalks. It is about a 3/4 mile long by about 50 yards wide and follows the a well covered and wooded stream - perfect cover. I went out early and a 100 or so lifted when I arrived, I set up waited....and waited.....and nothing. After an hour of heavy rain it cleared up and a group of 6 came over and then 20 minutes later a pair. And that was it, 2 birds for 3 1/2 hours, really frustrating as I know they are feeding hard in this area but they never seem to hang around long when I'm there.
