Cranfield
This is one of those questions that there is no correct answer to. I have had good days with just two floaters and three or four shell decoys. There have been other good days when I have had over thirty decoys out, plus some floaters and a rotary. If you are starting out, buy what you can afford. As you shoot the pigeons, add the dead birds to the layout. I always place a few clean shot ones to one side in my freezer, for use on the floaters and rotary. Friends of mine also keep a few dead birds for ground decoys as well.
