craigpigeonshooter
From: Ann.Robinson-Ruddock@nationalgamekeepers.org.uk Dear Member You may have read about Natural England (NE)s proposed changes to the General Licences for the controlling of pest birds. This is a public consultation process which now requires action from you. The NGOs Political Advisor, Charles Nodder, has now submitted a formal NGO response, approved by your National Committee. This is attached, along with an accompanying letter to NE. It is important that, you, as gamekeepers, shooters/managers and supporters read this NGO response. Please take time to go through the consultation paper as well if you can. It is available on the NE website at http://www.naturalengland.org.uk/ourwork/consultations/default.aspx. You will see that some of the proposals made by Natural England are extremely concerning and lack scientific evidence. For example there are proposals to remove Jays, Jackdaws and Hooded Crows from the General Licence altogether, as well as the now infamous shoo before you shoot clause (which would also apply, incidentally, to all bird trapping). The NGO along with other organisations such as BASC and the CA are urging individual members to respond to NEs consultation paper. It is extremely important that we show our support in numbers. Our opponents will certainly be doing so. Here is how to show your support: By email to: wildlife.consultation@naturalengland.org.uk Addressed to: NEs Wildlife Licensing Team. · Make your reply personal and individual. It need not be any more than three sentences or so in length; · Explain why General Licences in their current form are so important to you personally, for game management, pest control, crop protection and conservation; · State that you are a member of the National Gamekeepers' Organisation and that you have read and support the formal response the NGO has submitted to the consultation. Please also forward this email to anyone who may be interested in this consultation. As mentioned above we really need as many people to support the NGOs response as possible. All responses must be submitted to NE by 19th May 2014. We thank you in advance, Kindest regards The NGO Sarah Read National Gamekeepers Organisation www.nationalgamekeepers.org.uk 07824 099937
