pin Posted February 9, 2007 Report Share Posted February 9, 2007 Ideally you want a "deep cycle" or leisure battery. Normal lead acid cells are not meant to be completely discharged and charged regularly and won't last all that long if used in that way. The cells mentioned are designed for UPS use (uninteruptable power supplies, mainly used for telecomms and IT kit which needs to survive a power outage). This happens infrequently and the batteries are simply on "standby" getting a top up charge as required. If the use is infrequent I wouldn't worry, but if you lamp a few times a week you might only get less than one hundred charges before the capacity drop off and you get very little per charge..
