joecash
This was meant to have been implented in April this year Anyone know the status - or is it another white elephant? eCommerce for Policing (eCfP) provides an eCommerce solution that allows UK Police Forces and their suppliers to buy capability on a per transaction basis in order to be able to provide services to the Public. This Service, online firearms and explosives licensing, provides a force branded interface and integrates with key systems within Authorities to provide a professional and cost effective national solution for all customer-facing firearms licensing activities. The Service will enable members of the public to apply, renew and pay for firearms and explosives licenses through a web site. The Service uses the Government Gateway for authentication before submission of their electronic form to the appropriate Authority. The form will be sent to an ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) which will initiate a business process that will perform background checks on both central and local force systems, and present the results to the individual Authority for processing before a decision is taken on grant or renewal. The user will be provided with notifications of progress of their applications through the service until completion. CharlieT
I did read that it was being trialed in some areas first, I can't remember which ones, prior to implementation across the country. You may have noticed that the first part of the e package, notifications of acquisitions, is up and running. So, to answer your question, yes, it will happen.
