pavman
Pavman: What would consider the biggest changes in pigeon shooting that have taken place in that time? I would say the development of better deeks has helped in a positive way (sillo socks) also with flock full bodies and foam winged flappers and landers in particular you can set out a good pattern even in strong sunlight as they no longer reflect like the old half shell plastic types. Thats not to say you cant have a good day with old deeks you just get more options. If you can add a few sitters lofted above you with your hide on a headland that's also a help. New lofting poles are light and cheap and much more available then 10 years ago. The Internet has also played a big role with many of us getting a better deal by shopping online with folk like shoot warehouse, I think I was one of the very early users of silosocks and I still have the first set I got and whilst they dont look to robust they are still doing the business for me when I get a chance to get out. The development of hawk kites to scare birds off must have lost us a few opportunities Last but not least PW brings people with a shared interest (shooting pigeons) together and that's no bad thing especially when debating issues that are important to us Edited June 30, 2014 by pavman
