Welsh-Rhino
Just got my new scope and it came with a range estimating card. I'v never had a scope that came with one of these cards before. I would like to learn how to use the card correctly to improve my shooting. The card has a table on it and the formula to calculate range in M/Yards. But I'm no good with maths and for the life of me cant make heads or tails of it. The side of the card has Rectile Measurements(in mils) and aload of numbers going down the side Along the top of the card is Target Size in Inches/Meters and aload of number going along the top Can anyone help me please? Thanks
turbo33
I wouldn't bother. Just zero your scope at 35 yards for .177 or 30 yards for .22. Then with a fresh target, fire three shots at the bull 5 yards closer ( 30yds or 25yds) and see where the impact point is on your reticle. ie, I/2 a milldot over. Make a note/sketch. Go again, and again. You can do the same moving further away. You will end up with a range card for your rifle. If you change pellets or the magnification, it will change the point of impact, so best to find out which pellet your rifle is most accurate with and stick to them, and keep the magnification the same. 6X is more than enough for air rifle stuff. You will end up with something like........40-1/2 a milldot under cross hair.....35-zero...30-1/4 milldot over crosshair etc etc. Have a look at this, much better explanation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjLQCojgBgA Edited July 19, 2014 by turbo33
