bicykillgaz
Hi gents, Just purchased an 8x56 with 30mm tube, it's gonna be going on my cz452 .22lr. What is the lowest mounts I will be able to squeeze it on to? I know with a 25mm tube i would need high but can I get away with mediums with it been a 30mm tube? I'll be getting sportsmatch mounts if it makes any difference. Cheers Gary

bicykillgaz
I ordered high in the end which gives about 5mm clearance, I might order some mediums to try but doubt the lens covers will fit if I go any lower.
kent
I mean what a say the hole in the mounts is bigger but the objective is still reliant on the same centre. Before 30mm mounts were common we used to bore them out, the scope didn't sit any lower on the objective
bicykillgaz
When I asked I didn't know if rings were a standard height for each manufacturer. so say both 25mm and 30mm high mounts were 21mm from action to tube the objective on the 30mm would sit 2.5mm higher than the 25mm. So in theory you could squeeze the 30mm tubed scope on to medium mounts which were 19mm high.

So in theory you could squeeze the 30mm tubed scope on to medium mounts which were 19mm high. But they are the same to the centre of the "tube hole" the extra 2.5mm is meaningless then. Consider it was common to bore out 25s to 30 not long back by taking a skim of 2.5mm off the full internal circumference (inside diameter increased by 5mm total). As far as I am aware there is no set low, medium or high mount std across industry
