Gun Watch
Browning A5 Herstal with newer barrel £175 12 gauge Shotgun Private Seller Used - Average Condition Diss, Norfolk Semi-Automatic, Full Choke, -, 28" barrels Description Original Browning A5 Humpback FN Herstal serial number 470744, condition is ok for a gun that i estimate to be mid 1950's, the chequering is all but worn out the lop including a pad is 14", she is a little bit rough and ready but works flawlessly, in fact this afternoon i shot 100 bird at Bidwells in suffolk, the jewel in the crown though is that a few years ago the barrel was replaced so has a genuine replacement Fabrique Nationale Herstal barrel that states made in Japan so this is a later type made by Miroku. it has fixed full choke, patterns fantastically and has a spotless bore, for the money I am asking the barrel alone is worth this. sishyplops
ah very well spotted thanks for that, i will screw it back in, you do know that a man should always own at least 4 of the same gun any idea of the age by the serial number? there are no letters just the number
wraivi
I would say definitely a fifties gun, with that number and markings. Production moved back to FN In belgium in '52 after ww2. Incredible amount of them made, considering the fine engineering, serial numbers started at 1 to 400 odd thousand in the 50's. I recently saw one, serial number 39000.......pre ww2...... a long way from when they made yours and a long way from number 1 too.
