I use the No-Mar tape around my silencer and on the stock to hold my gunlamp switch in place instead of the sticky pads they supply you with. it keeps the switch in place and more flush with the stock. It does retain some moisture but i've never used it in the rain, i wouldn't recommend using it on the barrel or other blued parts thoughif you plan to shoot in the rain.

I can't see a problem on using it on a laminated or synthetic stock though. You can get stock kits with larger patches for the butt and forend. I'm not sure what sort of material these kits are made from but you would think that they are designed not to cause any problems.

I've used the no mark camo tape and liked it, if you don't put a bit on straight you can peel it off and move it no problem.

Only thing that let it down is that on corners the patten wears away easy and leaves a white mark, but you can go over this with a crayon or a pen.
