ferguson_tom
Hi everyone I just replaced the power steering pump on my 2.0 tdci mondeo as the old one was whining. Put the new one on and still got the noise in fact it seems worse. Any one have any ideas?
silver pigeon 3
Make sure it is full and go lock to lock, holding it at full lock for a little while, should get any air out of the system.
neil82
if the fluid was badly contaminated then the chances are the filter in the tank is blocked and the pump is starved, flush the system out and change the reservoir, most don`t know about the filter and looking inside it won1t give you a clue to it being there

88b
A tad late now but for future reference, always give it lock to lock several times before starting the engine. Then do it again with the engine running.
