BigEd85
Hi all, A really good night out with my .410 single shot Hushpower has provoked me to talk about it. I tried my hand at lamping from a vehicle which I last did when I was about 18, I was using a 12g O/U back then. Anyway off we went armed with the .410 and a Klarus XT11 (this worked pretty well on the night), we had permission on three large fields of stubble with houses around the edges. I was quite nervous as this land has not been lamped in a while so the locals would not be used to it. Anyway we turned up and their were no rabbits to be seen, I bet my brother that there would be a fox on the roam and the first eyes we lit up belonged to Mr Fox, in the end we saw three foxes in total and it was a shame that I did not have a suitable rifle with me. It was not long before the rabbits started coming out and and I quickly started bowling them over from the passenger window. I was REALLY IMPRESSED, baring in mind that we were shooting late at night and sound normally travels miles the report from the hushpower was minimal. We didn’t even need to wear ear defence which allowed us to communicate regarding the position of the vehicle etc without raising our voices. The icing on the cake was that I was able to shoot one rabbit, reload then shoot his buddy sitting about 2 metres away from him. The merits of the .410 included the fact that I could take on moving targets as well which is something you cant do with a rifle. All in all I got 10, no doubt due to the foxes being out and about :( Oh and I was using 3" subsonic cartridges btw, their hitting power was excellent out to 30 yards. Anyway, for those wanting something for volume sensitive areas, I can highly recommend the hushpower and everyone should have a go with one.
