paul2012
I was down my local rfd today and i was looking at the above scope to go on a cz455 American. I was wondering if anybody on here had any experience with them on a .22lr. It seems the reticle is pre calibrated for HV/SV ammo but apparently you can calibrate it for use with subs. It does appear clearer than a standard sport hd but I don't want to blow an extra £50 on a ret and would rather get a better scope. Thanks in advance for any info Paul
Tim1981
This scope will be fine on your rimmy mate ! I think Hawke scopes are excellent value for the money ! They are doing a deal at Cheshire guns Stockport at the moment £ 120 for the 4x12 x50 Hawke IR / EV panarama scope ! I have that on my HMR and it's impressive for the price ! Hawke scopes are better than niklo sterling in my opinion ! The sport HD will be fine in your CZ !
Katzenjammer
I purchased one a few weeks back on impulse have been shown it by my friend Bob who is an RFD. Unfortunately I have not as yet had time to zero and test it due to various circumstances. It seems from the instructions you use HV at 1300 fps to zero it at 25 yds then 50 yds on 9x mag. The other aim points (little cross hairs rather than milldots) then correspond to the printed distances against each point on the reticle. For subsonic it implies you turn down the mag to find out the aimpoints for those rounds and presumably again for very low velocity if you use them. Now having just read the leaflet provided with the scope it does not mention 1300fps but I'm pretty sure it does somewhere else - the Hawke website I think. Edit - yes it was "As a bonus, there is no need to memorize aim points, as the yardages are etched directly onto the glass of the reticle. Designed to be accurate at 9X magnification for ammunition shooting at or near 1300 fps, the 3-9x40 chassis design is easy to use and reliable." Katzenjammer
Finally managed to get this scope zeroed in yesterday with Aquila hv at 9 mag. Firstly in an indoor 25 yard range as instructions recommended then at 50 outside as per instructions. Not ideal conditions mind given the weather. Then switched to subsonics, low strikes initially, reduced the magnification as per instructions and found 6 mag gave bullseye groupings at 50 yds. A quick test at 75 yds which is the next x hair down (this scopes milldots!) and that seemed spot on too. Left the experiment there and retreated before lashing hailstorm. paul2012
Thanks for your help. Please come back when you've tried the other ranges but it looks like this is the scope for me after Christmas
