Suffolkngood
Experienced shot and insured with utmost respect to property, land and livestock. Able to protect crops midweek when the weekend shooters can't. Sorry for bumping my own thread but now the game season is less than a week away, I'd just like to politely ask farmers or landowners if they have any mid week pigeon/crow decoying/shooting available. Ideally looking in the Newmarket/Bury St Edmunds/Ipswich areas but open to anything within an hours drive . I appreciate that many of you may have someone to keep the birds off at weekends but that still gives the birds another 5 days to devour your crops. I'm self employed so can come to your aid with very little notice. I look forward to hearing form anyone that would like to meet me. Kind Regards Mark Edited January 26, 2015 by Suffolkngood

Trev Hi Trevor Yes you're quite right, knocking on doors is the best way (albeit time consuming) and that's what I'm doing. What's the point of having a forum like this though if you can't use it as part of your permission hunting. Have you ever asked a question online before? If so, did anyone respond in a way similar to yours? If you are offended by my post then I am sorry but all I'm doing is asking a polite question. Cheers Mark

So to keep Trevor happy....if you are a farmer or landowner from Newmarket/Cambridge can you please contact him and not me. I'd hate to be caller a cyber poacher. Suffolkngood
Well said MarkThanks Lucky Shot. I appreciate that some people may think asking for permission on web sites is lazy or even poaching on their territory but all I was asking for was the opportunity to protect someone's crops during the week ( not weekends ). I appreciate that some landowners have regular shooters that are out there doing their bit morning, noon and night........but there must be more than a handful that have offered permission to well intended shooters who then only turn up(if at all) on a favourable weekend and leave the crops exposed for the rest of the week. I'm not worried about how many I shoot, if I only have a couple of shots and the birds don't return to the field for the rest of the day then I have done the landowner the favour just like he has favoured me by allowing me to shoot on his land. Just goes to show how much better it is to meet people and talk face to face as things get misinterpreted in text alone. Hope your day went well and the guns achieved a decent bag for you.
