Hi all

I have been given an old gun and I'm after some information about it

On the top of the barrel it says

john blissett 322 high Holborn London

It is a single barrel hammer gun

It has a hexagonal barrel with a steel rod underneath it So I presume a muzzle loader?

I don't know much about this type of gun so I wondered if anybody on here could shed some light and also if anybody knew what it might be worth

Further to my last post . The address puts the gun between 1854 and 1881 ,this was the period of transition from percussion muzzle loader and the introduction of breech loading guns . It is fair to speculate that with a steel or iron ram rod and octagon barrel that this gun could have been a rifle or intended for use with ball ammunition . Muzzle loading guns were made in Birmingham up until the 1920's for export to the colonies and so this gun could be from either end of the dates .
