Toyota Satnav/cd player probs, help/ideas?

The satnav/cd/radio unit in my Hilux has gone loopy, can anyone help?

CD and radio were working fine. The Satnav suddenly decided it couldn't read the map disc. So did all the usual, made sure the disc was clean, un scratched etc. Still no joy. Then after some research, it seems if you disconnect the battery for 5 mins, it will reset the satnav and all will be well :good: So did that, and still have no satnav, and as a bonus, the radio and CD have stopped working  The screen display says " Programme can't be read, consult to a dealer" and a load of Jap language underneath :hmm: My Toyota garage is scratching their head over it. Seems quite a few on 'tinternet have had the same, but can't find a solution. It seems its not a code issue as such, as the general consensus is the units aren't coded........but then they could all by telling porkies

Any skilled sounds/satnav techy's out there with some ideas?

Thanks

T3

Hi Turbo,

Just had a look and ours was almost identical.

It eventually would not play any discs, audio or sat nav

No, sadly not repaired, it was going to cost so much to look at i just put a new Sony in, allowed me to get rid of the parrot car kit and a Harmon Kardon i pod adaptor kit too so was worth it.

Same size in height but a bit narrower so filled the sides in with black foam. About £450 including the tom tom sat nav module.

It's an 0 LC, had it from new, it's been great but when i asked about i pod connection or steering wheel controls, they weren't even available as an optional extra!

Thanks for replying Keg. Took it to a main dealer, they tried a reboot disc.....dead as a dodo. So like you, picked up a new unit, no sat nav, but great music sounds, built in Bluetooth, parrot, dab radio. Super bit of kit. TBH, the Toyota sat nav is pants. All these built in satnavs require updates at 100+ quid a year. On top of the initial stupid amount of money the main dealer charges for the unit makes the whole thing absurd. I could buy a TomTom with free updates and this unit and still have enough change from a factory unit to go on holiday!!

However, I don't think its acceptable that this hideously expensive unit should be dead inside 7 years, so have made some noises with Toyota about it. Will see what happens.

we did want DAB but the Sony unit we purchased did not have that as an option.

I cannot fault Toyota. Even though our injectors were in spec when both hot and cold, despite it being two years out of warranty they changed them.

Ours is an 07.
