What length?

Hi,

 

If i were to but a brand new 3" mag Escort 12b SA to do a bit of pigeon shooting and a bit of clays with, what length barrel would you reccomend? 26", 28" or "30.

 

If it makes any difference im about 5'9" and a 'healthy' 14 st and will shoot 30gr 6.5's for game and 28gr 7.5's for clays (seems about right from other posts).

i would go for the 28in barrel reasonably short to be able to get onto a pigeons quick enough, but not to short so that you can still swing on clays

 

At the end of the day tho its all down to personal opinion i think and whatever feels best and works for u

middle of the park sounds good to me.

 

I tried the escort (not new) and it jammed quite alot. I think the highest cart i went to was 70mm 28g's.

 

I guess the 76mm 30's are best but are they much more expensive to buy?

 

Im sure ive read that if you use decent quality 70mm 28's it shouldnt jam much.

I would have said 28" but try before you buy.

 

I don't have one but I have shot 2 and neither jam at all.

They were 3" and 3 1/2"

 

Don't use 24gram cartridges and they should be fine.

yer ive got a section 1 escort, and like stuartp said it doesnt like 24grams all too much but will eat up anything else i put in it,

 

for the price i paid its a very gd gun,
