fenboy
Not seeing many pigeon on my patch at the moment but saw the odd one dropping into a small rape field this morning and thought I would give it a go , more for giving the dog a retrieve or two than in expectation of shooting a decent bag . I set up in a ditch at the bottom of the field in line with the edge of the rape and some cultivated land next to it , the plan was to have a handful of decoys on the cultivated land so they could be easily seen with the bulk of them on the edge of the rape. Surprisingly things got of to a good start with 9 pigeon for 10 shots in the first half hour, most of which decoyed perfectly , it was then things took a turn for the worse , a load of tractors , veg planting rigs and about 30 gang workers in hi viz jackets turned up to start planting cabbages , bloody typical . There was no point staying put so I packed up and had a drive around but found nothing else worth setting up for. I think I will now most likely be twiddling my thumbs until the peas are in and up.
