DeepThought
Hi A couple of possibly very silly questions about the stock on my new Beretta A300 Outlander. Firstly, it's only had a couple of outings but there is a tiny patch on the stock around the grip where the finish seems to be coming away, it looks almost like peeling varnish but I know this stock to be oiled. What is this and how do I maintain/repair it? Secondly, I have heard reports that this stock responds nicely to oil treatment, could anyone point me towards an idiot's guide for this as I can see some really nice walnut grain just dying to come out. Sorry, I did do a search for this but couldn't find anything. I'm sure I'm just being a bit precious with my new toy but that blemish is playing on my mind. Sorry again for the silly questions, it seems shooting guns and actually owning them are two very different things. Thanks
welshwarrior
Beretta use Tru Oil which is an oil base varnish sits on top and peals. Best fix is strip and re oil with a proper stock oil. Quick fix retouch with tru oil.
DeepThought
Thanks. I don't know if I'm quite brave enough to strip and re-oil yet, maybe in a few months.I'll do a touch up job in the meantime I think.
