Floating Chamber
Do any of you pick up used plastic wads and reuse them as I've seen loads that never opened after firing.Back in the early 1970s, when Winchester AA shells flooded the UK, the AA wad, for a while, was the only suitable wad for reloading them. Several of us collected thousand upon thousand from the Skeet range. They would be boiled in a Burco to clean and stress relieve them. With 19 grains of Bofors JK6, a Remington 97* primer and 32 grams of homemade shot, we had great shells. Uncle Albert
You're not going to save much, if anything, on clay loads. The saving comes when you get into game or pigeon shells. It is a hobby in itself and the satisfaction with dusting a clay or downing a bird with a shell you loaded yourself is very satisfying. Plus, the added point of not being dependant on your local shop being open when you are on your way to the shoot and you have forgotten to stock up on shells. Home loads do pattern better than factory loads. I've tried them against a pattern plate and was surprised at the way they patterned. Factory loads had clumps of 2, 3, 4 and even a few 5 pellet groups.
