barrel internal dimensions. ...

Just a quick one really; the plastic coating stripped off of my cleaning rod so I've replaced it with heat shrink- made a nice job of it too if I say so myself!

But, now it's too fat for a .22 barrel!

At the moment, I'm thinking I'll just replace the .22 rod and keep the old one for when I get a 6.5mm but I need to know what size rod will fit before I go out and buy anything.

Is it .264 or does the rifling make it smaller?

the new .22 rod's for my .22's but I'm hoping what I've done to the old one will fit the 6.5 when the time comes (just because I don't want to see it go to waste). IF however, it turns out it won't fit, I'll strip the heatshrink off and have a re-think (and spend a long time wishing I hadn't gone for the glue lined sort  ) but not need to buy another rod.

May not help, but:

6.5mm is 0.256 in imperial inches.

0.264inches is 6.71mm

Bullets are a little oversize though. A .22 is .224" for example, and a 6.5mm is .264; http://www.henrykrank.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=164_165_169_176

The reason for the question though, is the rifling's lands dig into the bullet a bit but the bullet's slightly larger and fits into the grooves http://www.firearmsid.com/Galleries/illustrations/rifling/rifling_6R.gif

So, I need to know the internal diameter of the lands - then I can see if my original rod will fit down it
