want to fit a sling

how can i fit a sling to my escort semi auto .

can i buy the mag tube end cap with a sling attachment from anywhere .

I'm looking as well, recently bought a sling with the mag tube end cap fitted, dealer was sure it would fit but it didn't, it was an entirely different thread. If you find one please let us know where.

Look on www.targetsports.co.uk They have a sling for semi's that doesnt need any drilling etc, have a gander, much better than carving up your gun!

For me the best studs & swivels are Uncle Mike's. They are imported into the UK by Viking Arms (http://www.vikingarms.com/) so give them a ring to see who stocks what you want locally.

You can either drill a hole in the end cap and fix a stud there, or under the end of the f/end just to the rear of the inner metal sleeve, or buy a barrel fixing stud that clamps around the barrel. the stock will be fine with a woodscrew type.

 

Most makes of swivels will fit these studs but again if you want the best buy Uncle Mikes.

 

If you cannot get any I always have some spares so you can always post me your cap for me to fit one in that and then you can fit one to the stock end.

 

BUT do try locally first as I shall have to replace them for my own needs.

Maybe should have said that these were an end cap with swivel fitted and a screw in swivel for the stock oops

Thanks for your advise but unfortunately this company just answered my e.mail ordering a swivel set & they don't do a kit to fit the Escort, different thread they said.

There is no thread to match.

 

You firstly need to decide which method you wish to use to attach a stud to the forend and then it is a simple process of buying the correct style of stud (and swivel if you buy a combo) and fitting it.

You can buy swivels to suit the studs from various places and if you do not want Uncle Mikes style try Deben as they do a nylon one that is quieter, less likely to scratch and half price.

 

To fit a stud to the end cap

Buy a threaded stud with nut.

Drill a hole absolute centre of the cap the diameter of the stud thread and fit stud. mark length of thread unneeded - remove and cut off thread and then refit with loctite.

 

To fit Stock stud.

For the stock just fit a screw threaded stud. Drill a hole 3/4 diameter of thread and screw in stud using a masonry nail through the hole for ease. Ensure when it bottoms it is aligned across the stock not lengthways. If it wouldn't align when tight add small black nylon washer. (I have some if you want me to post one).

Now remove again and add a small amount of super glue into the hole in the stock and screw in the stud again BUT keep I moving as if you stop turning it will stick as the glue sets. It will now not shoot loose.

 

To fit a forend stud

If you should feel it would be preferable (I wouldn't) to add a stud to the underside of the forend then using the same style of stud as above for the cap take off the forend and drill a hole the diameter of the thread dead centre just behind the metal insert in the forend that gives support for the end cap.

As above check excess thread - remove and refit with loctite. If there is sufficient roome on your gun you could also add a large thin washer to help spread the load and protect the forend.

 

To fit a Barrel stud

If you feel that you do not wish to do either of the above buy a barrel clamp stud. Loosen the fitting screw slide on the barrel until in a position that will not interfere with forend removal for cleaning and lock the fitting screw.

Or you could just buy a cheater sling - that's what I use on my escort...works well and no fuss
