danco1987
its classed as a rifle and must be used with the stock on in the UK. Ive had a 2289 in the past and ive got a 1389 in the post from the states at the moment. Great great guns and you can mod them to do close to 12fpe. If yours doesnt fire, the best thing to do is to get a 1377 seal kit and valve stem from steve at http://www.sdcustomdesign.com/parts.htm#seals Steve also does trigger guides and springs to make the trigger smoother. That should do the trick if the guns not holding air. Then once you have it firing again, 10pumps should = about 7/8fpe in .177. Theres so many mods and aftermarket mods you can add to these guns. An 18" barrel is the optimum size according to the crosman forum. An aftermarket breech will seal air better and can be purchased from RJ machine in the states http://www.rjmachineshop.com/ along with an extended bolt probe which ads fps. Then there loads of valve mods and other things suggest on the crosman forum tech section. The 1377 mods apply to the backpacker http://www.network54.com/Realm/CFTech/CFTech.htm Ive added a new vinyl transfer port, a metal pump mechanism, breech, extended bolt, a lighter valve spring and a longer barrel to 2289G when i had it. and still have the parts to add to my 1389 which is arriving. Wish you well restoring this gun.
