  1. bought a new metal, golden coloured trigger blade, trigger shoe and sear for the gun now as well. I just cant stop buying things for this bloody gun Also im going to cut up some of that camo clothing in the picture and wrap it around the front of the scope and the silencer and secure with some camo tape just to get rid of a bit of the shine. Got a chrony on the way so i can start some of the internal work.
  2. well if you get a good crosman barrel, re cut and recrowned nicely - they can be a really accurate piece of kit. My last 2289G backpacker and my current 1377 were/are accurate kits. My barrel is a .177 1760 (rabbitstopper) barrel. A canadian chap recut and recrowned it for me, he made a lovely job of it and i asked him to really check out the rifling before he cut it to make sure it was top knotch. All that said and done, i havent actually got to shoot any tragets with it. I've only fired a few test shots to test out the silencer. Hopefully i'll have it finished soon so i can get shooting.
  3. well gun cost me about £70 secondhand from the states - took about 6 weeks to come and didnt get hit with customs charges luckily. Got the barrel, adjustable hammer spring, valve, piston, harden steel pivot point from a chap in canada - cost me about £55 but then I got stung by a £13 customs charge . UK Neil adaptor and silencer - £40. Also included in the price for the parts was a metal barrel band which is soon to be on its way. So its set me back £178. But its been gradual over a period of 6 months. Also after replacing all the stock parts with new ones, i've been selling the old ones. I've sold the old breech and barrel so thats £14 off the cost. Also got loads of spares i could sell at sometime. So about £164 I've spent so far i'd say. Not bad seeing as these rifles are very rare stock and well this custom one is quite unique. Yes its really light and so quiet now that its got a silencer on it. Should make a perfect rabbit and pigeon stalking rifle once i've finished.
  4. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a47/danco...nysairrifle.jpg added a 17 inch recrowned .177 barrel, crooked barn breech and bolt, UK Neil adaptor and silencer, adjustable hammer spring system and a sutter 3-12x50 scope. Still have to fit the new internals I have for it = flat top valve and adjustable piston. Also adding a a lighter trigger spring and guide, metal barrel band, harden steel pivot pin and painting the stock and handle black. Looking to get 11fpe from this lightweight rifle which would make a great rabbit stalker for hunting within 40 yards.
  5. its classed as a rifle and must be used with the stock on in the UK. Ive had a 2289 in the past and ive got a 1389 in the post from the states at the moment. Great great guns and you can mod them to do close to 12fpe. If yours doesnt fire, the best thing to do is to get a 1377 seal kit and valve stem from steve at http://www.sdcustomdesign.com/parts.htm#seals Steve also does trigger guides and springs to make the trigger smoother. That should do the trick if the guns not holding air. Then once you have it firing again, 10pumps should = about 7/8fpe in .177. Theres so many mods and aftermarket mods you can add to these guns. An 18" barrel is the optimum size according to the crosman forum. An aftermarket breech will seal air better and can be purchased from RJ machine in the states http://www.rjmachineshop.com/ along with an extended bolt probe which ads fps. Then there loads of valve mods and other things suggest on the crosman forum tech section. The 1377 mods apply to the backpacker http://www.network54.com/Realm/CFTech/CFTech.htm Ive added a new vinyl transfer port, a metal pump mechanism, breech, extended bolt, a lighter valve spring and a longer barrel to 2289G when i had it. and still have the parts to add to my 1389 which is arriving. Wish you well restoring this gun.
  6. I also remember being about 14/15 years old, the local school near use had huge fields backing onto farmers fields and thick overgrown woodland. Me and my mate used to take the black widow catapults and my crosman 1377 pump pistol and a pocket full of pellets and hunt the rabbits at the back out the fields close up. I mean we used to get stung, cut and what have you crawling through the overgrown trees and bushes to get within about 10-15yards of this bunnies in the summer. We also used to wait and the rabbits would soon come out in the evening sun. We regularly came home with one rabbit each time although we usually were so nackered after getting one and all the walking and crawling about we'd call it a day after that. We once got caught by the bloke who used to mow the lawns who just said to us, "rabbits for dinner hey lads" as my mate had a rabbit in his hands and me a black widow sticking out of my pocket. Cor you couldnt do that now and looking back on it was risky and a bit careless but then again there was no one around and it wasnt as if we were hanging around the shops and harrassing old women. Plus those days after school in the summer got me more into airgunning, I found out the proper ways to go about enjoying the sport, as i had no family members who were properly into it so it wasn't all that stupid after all. I bought myself the pistol from a sports shop when I was 14/15 (later found out you had to be 18 to buy airguns!!, don't know what the shop assistant was thinking!).
  7. anyone give me any tips on areas in herts where i should go looking for land? friendly farmers etc? cheers danny
  8. so the only way to get one on a FAC is if youre a vermin controller? not for any other use
  9. cheers andrew. Unfortunutely i dont have any family with land to shoot over, did have a friend with some but they dont have anymore. I'll keep trying the farmers when im home though. Cheers for you help. danny
  10. Yeah i'll probably just approach land owners and tell them the situation i'm in. cool. I just thought i'd see what the landowners are like for the members on here to see the likiness of me getting somewhere to shoot while im back home. cheers danny
  11. how many of each pellet do you get? cheers
  12. Hi lads, I'm a full time student at the university of sheffield in my second year. However I'm from down south in Hertfordshire, Welwyn Garden City and live there when I'm back during holidays. I'm back for xmas for 4 weeks, easter for 4 weeks and summer for nearly 4 months. I used to have permission on a small bit of land to shoot rabbits with my airgun during the summer, but im guessing it wouldnt be that good during the winter. I'm going to be buying a hw95k sometime during xmas and was wondering what my chances are of getting a farm to shoot on during the holidays - easter and summer(prob summer most as im down for longest then)? Will i end up losing that shoot when i go back to uni if i manage to get one when i'm back? Do you guys have shoots where the land owners don't mind when you come and go or do you have to be there each and every week? cheers danny
  13. never knew you could get pistols on your FAC
  14. I lamped a rabbit once but it got back up and punched me twice as hard
  15. Not to mention the fact that evading tax/duty is a criminal offence. Oh, and second hand goods most certainly DO attract import duty/VAT. the original post was not concerning extra tax, i dont mind paying the tax and i just said ive never had to pay extra before with secondhand guns ive bought, why? i dont know. I wanted to know if this gun would be illegal to import regarding its power setting?
