badsworth
Eley 'Fourlong' .410 catridges used to be 2.25" long - even though it said 2.5" on the box. This allowed the owners of some older shotguns to sneak in that little extra bit of load. Horror of horrors - at the weekend my son tried to load some in his folder and found that the blighters have grown to the full 2.5" and will not fit in his gun anymore! He is back to a measley 9 grammes of lead! Has anyone else noticed this and does anyone know why it was done! Any suggestions on any other heavier loads by other manafacturers? duster
Eley Fourlongs have been 2.5" for a while now mate. Eley's system goes like this: Fourten = 2" Fourlong = 2.5" Extra Long = 3" As regards heavier loads, I think Remington do some quite haevy loads, but you will be limited giveb the length of cartridge your lad's gun can take. Hope this helps. Cheers Duster
Conygree
I use 3" 410, tried Eley but at 30m the pattern was a bit wide for squirrels so tried Remmington long range bit pricey but what a punch and good tight group at 30 m, not much gets away I use it like a rifle with a mod can on the end its now noisy but hits hard and to my surprise at 100m away the squirrels are still playing.
