donky7
whats the point in having insurance if your not covered !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i started pest cover for a farmer around his builds, mainly controlling rats with rodenticides. towards winter last year the population exploded so i asked for permission to shoot with my air rifle. permission was granted. soon after i asked a mate to assist as they were breeding faster than i could cull. i also asked him to take out insurance for obvious reasons........ i mentioned this to the farmer, showing a professional attitude, (both ins). soon after an incident occured with the rifles that needed hospital treatment and 1 week off work. both being insured with the same company, it appeared a straight forward claim procedure........ after endless phone calls, the company state the policy only covers any parties without a policy with them. pin
That's what 3rd party liability insurance does.
njc110381
I'd say that's a pretty poor thing to happen really. The problem lies with the fact that you and the other chap were working together. In a case like this, I guess you (or he) wouldn't be classed as a 3rd party. Insurance companies are known to use any excuse to not pay. In my opinion, as you both have seperate cover (I assume) you should be covered

SNAKEBITE
Could you be a little more specific with the company and the incident please. The information is a little thin and more detail could help us help you and maybe help others learn from your experience.
donky7
the idea was to allow users to learn from others, i took out the cheapest ins, i thought, i did post the name, but the lords above has removed, possably legal reasons, but yeah, i took out the policy for cover if any misshaps occur,,, my mate also did the same, (same company - 4 letters) .......... that misshap did happen, and after trying to claim, and being passed from pillar to post, 15 phonecalls and a week later i got the letter stating the policy is for un-insured only, no insured. pm me for more info............... pin
I am not criticising but if this is the company I think it is then they only offer 3rd party liability, and make that very clear in the literature you are sent. I know, I used to have this insurance some time ago. This cheap airgun only insurance is designed to protect the shooter from huge legal bills or claims should they cause an incident whilst shooting. You could clearly still have made a claim, but not by claiming on your own policy your self, but by your mate taking action against you. Harsh, but that's the only way it would work with 3rd party insurance.
