Ferretboy111
I know this may seem obvious, but as some of you know im planning on getting a ESS bitch in the next few months. The family used to have one 3 or 4 years ago and im making the kennel in the same place as where the kennel was before. Removed the shed which stood in its place today, and have found that 3 of the posts are still in situe and so is the inch hole mesh. Now here is the question, the mesh has been tainted by the weather---obviously as metal does, its still strong stuff and hasnt rusted through. So can i keep the old mesh or will i have to replace the lot? im just worried that she may catch summit off it or something. Better to be safe than sorry, which is why im asking. Many thanks Alex
new to the flock
Ferretboy, You have a couple of options, aslong as the mesh is in good shape and not broken with sharp edges etc. First is just use it as if it is safe she will not hurt herself on it. Second you could replace it tis will incure addd cost to the kennel, or Third get a good wire brush and run it over the rust to get rid of any thing loose. Then get a can of galvanized spay paint and spray the wire off giving it a new protective coating. A little word to the wise here.....cover the side you are not painting with taped up newspaper to avoid over spray and drift. Once the first side is dry switch the paper over and paint the second. You should be able to recondition your two sections of kennel for around 10 pounds. NTTF
