Thelongwayup Posted October 1, 2015 Report Share Posted October 1, 2015 To any Electricians, normally all cabling we have on our jobs is pre installed with a spark onsite at the time of fitting to make all the connections and pass off the work. However, we have had a job come in at short notice and we are doing the groundworks ourselves on this job. We need to install 2 armoured cables to two large patio umbrellas outside a pub we are fitting. One run of cable will be approximately 25m and the other around 10m length. On each umbrella there will be 4 x 1.5kw heaters and 4x 50w spotlights. On our diagrams we have been advised to fit LAPP 12 core 2.5mm cables or a similar equivalent. All these will be buried and run through a conduit pipe. So onto my question, is that cable suitable? Is there a better cable? cheaper at all as the best price we've found so far is £250 +vat? Normally on some of the other style parasols there is two 6 core SWA cables fitted, however this specs one 12 core. Only 9 cores are actually needed mind. If anybody knows of a good cheap place to buy said cable then please do let me know. Online or instore. Cheers. Any questions feel free to ask. Personally i would put a 6mm in ducting just in case they change the heaters and they want something slightly more powerful and if its in ducting you can always upgrade the cable in the future.
