Hodmedod.one
Hi All Did anybody else go to the sale at winston hall in norfolk today,if so did you grab a bargain Yes I did go, no I didn't bag a bargain. When ***** are willingly paying more for cartridges than they cost in the gun shop, bargains are few and far between £60 for 500 12g Fiocchi's plus VAT, plus 10% buyers premium, plus VAT on the buyers premium. £78.78 Crazy fools!!!!!!!!!!! £145 for a pair of Le Chameau leather lined wellies = £190.38 with the VAT & BP etc. Stupid. To be fair, some of the rifles went for reasonable prices.
sweepy
Hi Hodmedod.one I totally agree with you I couldn't beleive what people where paying for cartridges,I did however buy some bullets that I don't think where over priced(don't buy that many to keep up with prices).I thought the shotguns went very cheap, but thats the trouble with a saturday auction
Cranfield
There use to be some excellent bargains at all types of Auctions ( about 10 years ago), but since there has been a rash of TV programmes featuring them , more people are attending. These new people get a bit carried away and some of the prices paid are ridiculous. I know a lot of Dealers that have stopped going to the bigger Auctions, that are well publicised and are going to the smaller regional Auctions. I have often been disappointed with the quality of the guns at Auctions. Most of them are put in by GunShops who have taken them as a part exchange. During a viewing once , I saw a Dealer point out the condition of nine out of twenty guns, that made them unsafe to sell. The Auctioneers staff did withdraw them. There are still bargains out there, but you now have to hunt a bit harder. A good Auction can be quite a buzz though.
