SEshooter
Bit of advice please. Me and 2 mates have booked permits to shoot a marsh at the end of the month. There are only 4 permits allowed on this marsh so we should have it to ourselfs. We will be decoying and the tides in theory look good for it. My predicament is... do we put all our decoys together and shoot together or split up and do our own thing. I'm fairly new to wildfowling and only have 6 teal and 6 widgeon decoys. Obvously if we shot together then we would have a lot more decoys, but do people find more decoys generally work better?
dawntredder
I would say try to together at 1st see how it goes that's if you are staying longer than one day,or better still just have a gap of say 30yds or so between you with deeks out 30-40yds in the centre of you both putting six and six with say 10yd gap between both sets as a sort of killing zone or just six each directly out front of you both....trying pick up a few more deeks as the more on the water is easier for them to see from up above....and get teal as you can carry more that way...enjoy!! TIDES EDGE
If you all have good dogs split up 12 decoys is more than enough I only use 6 teal decoys. If its Friars you are going to be careful there are not that many places left at the top of a big tide.
SEshooter
Thanks for the advice, it's funton west. Predicted a 5.2 tide so should leave a fair bit exposed. Have you shot there befor? We do all have dogs so should be ok on that front. I'm gonna have a spec up befor we go to suss out what's still above water on a bigger tide to be safe. TIDES EDGE
Very little is left at the top of the tide 5.2 is just about right for there but only a couple of spots but they are well defined
