marlin1
Have had permission to shoot FAC .22 LR since 1995 on 400 acre farm and FAC Air rifle only on 60 acre farm. Have to shoot Foxes on both farms when requested... Always use the shotgun. I know I cant get an upgrade for cert on small farm but appreciate any advice for what to apply for on bigger farm.... JohnGalway
Google the trajectories of the .222 .223 and .22-250 If your new farm has very big fields maybe the .22-250 would suit you best, it'll be louder than the other two though. If you're content and able to shoot out to 200 yards then the .223 would be best, it's still loud Most of the foxes I've shot, or seen shot have been under 170 yards at night. That's a good shot as far as I'm concerned The majority of the ones I've gotten have been under 100 I would say. Check out the ammo prices at your local dealer also, that is if you don't intend to home load.
marlin1
Not a problem with noise of gun, but can see main road about a mile away...
njc110381
.223 seems a popular choice. May even be good for deer soon? .22-250 barrels wear faster than most I think
