lakeside1000
I have been chasing the elusive pink foot geese for weeks and it is getting harder to find them every week, I was coming off the local marsh yesterday after another 4 hour blank session when I spotted several hundred pigeons on some rape fields where we have permission, So today I filled the van with decoys, nets, poles and a magnet and was on the rape at 9.30 am, they started coming in as soon as I had set out, committing fully to the pattern , they came steadily for around 4 hours, at first in large groups then as the day wore on they reduced to singles and very small groups, I managed 14 kills for around 30 cartridges so not too bad as I hadn't shot pigeon since September 1st. A refreshing change to sitting in a muddy ditch, staring at an empty sky, but its back to the elusive pinks again at least until February , Its hard to explain but the adrenalin rush you get when a skein of pinks come crashing in over your head making enough noise to wake the dead is so addictive,
Columba Grey
Never shot pink but I can well imagine the excitement. A good story and given that you were probably up at an unearthly hour 14 from 30 ain't bad!
