Peter_HMR
I know how everyone loves there boresnakes and i have to admit i find them handy but my main problem with them is they stick a bronze brush in them and for a .22 or .17hmr i think they do more harm than good. My solution to this was to cut it off and melt the thread unto the boresnake which was fine until it broke and i dint fancy spending another 15pounds for it to break again. I came across this US product bought one and its brilliant no chance of it breaking, no thread to wear the crown, comes with correct size patches which you pierce (they done come apart very strong) so the patch is centered on the bore as opposed to the eye of the needle type which i dont really fancy. I bought the PFK bundled with a .17hmr rod 7/8" patchs and an extra 500 patches shipped for a total of 24dollars This kit is all i need (contains wet patches) to clean my .17 and .22 and comes with all attachments for any rifle calibre or 12g all you need is a bigger patch. http://patchworm.com/patchworm.html Excellent alternative to the boresnake Great customer service as well took less than a week to get here think it was 4 days and they take paypal. As the "rod" is actually a coiled piece of nylon, don't you have trouble getting it to poke it's head out of the moderator? I have enough trouble getting the brass weight to come out of the mod on my .243 when I use a boresnake to remove surplus oil from the barrel.
