had a call from farmer on one of my permissions yesterday, he said he was having a chat with another farmer he knows and said his friend mentioned he had lost approx 2 acres of cabbage over last few months on one field of his due to piggie damage. his friend said that there was a couple of hundred on them a couple of days ago. his friend gave out the offer for me to go and have a look. went today after getting directions and actually knew the field as next to a road and am familiar with area. field was a single one he rents and says does not have anyone going on shooting as not had problems for last 3 years since renting. anyhow got down today and nothing seen despite a good few hours recon, had only two shots and missed the two easy birds and the air was blue. looks like they have werried the cabbages to death over winter. hoping to get some colder weather and will keep eye on it. all fields surrounding winter wheat and some spuds. have took a pic and you can see they have had a good old go. yes appears to have not harvested hardly any of the crop as looks like at planting stage most of the modules clipped off resulting in damaged growth. hopefully out a bit more with shotty, have been concentrating on getting out with my 243 last two months. role on them pigeons. told him to give me a shout if has any other crops i can keep eye on.
